Harald Ebert: Donkey Kong Racing in 2005
Ever since Nintendo got their DK license back, apparently they're going all out.
Apart from the music title Donkey Konga, and the new Game Boy Advance Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, strong rumors suggest that not only is there a traditional Donkey Kong title being developed in-house at Nintendo, but that Donkey Kong Racing is still alive and well, and being developed by a Nintendo second-party. Whether it will be a racing/adventure hybrid and spiritual successor to Diddy Kong Racing is still unclear, but most likely.
I do realize that Rare still has the source code and is changing the title to 'Sabreman Stampede', but apparently Nintendo is making their own DK racer.
"In an interview with Harald Ebert (PR manager of Nintendo Germany) he said that Donkey Kong Racing, an old Rare project, is in development by a 2nd Party. A release is planned for 2005."
