Spike Chunsoft kündigte mit Re:Zero – The Prophecy of the Throne ein taktisches Abenteuerspiel für Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 und PC an, das innerhalb dieses Winters in Japan erscheinen soll. Dort lautet der Titel des Spiels allerdings Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World: Royal Selection Candidate.

Zwar wurden bisher weder der Name der englischen Version noch die Lokalisierung für den westlichen Markt offiziell angekündigt, doch entsprechende Einträge auf Amazon U.K. verraten bereits Pläne für eine solche Veröffentlichung.

Das Spiel wird eine neue und eigene Handlung bieten, deren Entstehung von Tappei Nagatsuki, dem Autor der Romanreihe Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World, beaufsichtigt wurde. Darin erscheint ein sechster Kandidat für die Royal Selection, den es laut Prophezeiung des Dragon Stone eigentlich nicht geben sollte. Sofort kommen Vermutungen über einen Betrüger auf, die insbesondere eine Frau stark belasten: Emilia.
