Während wir noch auf das vierte Professor Layton-Spiel warten, freuen sich Fans der Serie in Japan schon auf den fünften Teil. Professor Layton And The Mask Of Miracle ist der zweite Teil der zweiten Trilogie der berühmten Reihe und erscheint pünktlich zum Japan-Launch des 3DS. Im neuen Iwata fragt“-Interview mit Level 5-Vorstand Akihiro Hino erfahren wir nun Näheres zum Entwicklungsprozess des Spiels.

So war der fünfte Teil zunächst als 2D-Spiel gedacht. Jedoch war Hino von den 3D-Titeln der anderen Entwickler so begeistert, dass er danach auch das neue Professor Layton in der dritten Dimension sehen wollte.

So I thought I'd have to remake the Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle into something more "whoa"-worthy. I'm glad I saw those other products at E3. If I hadn't, it would have been something completely different. The background looks like anime, but it's all in 3D. The volume of the content is also at its finest, and I think it's the best Professor Layton game yet.

Er sei sehr zufrieden damit, dass er das Spiel für den 3DS entwickelt hat. Die 3D-Animationen und der umfangreiche Inhalt des Spiels machen aus dem fünften Teil den bisher besten Teil der Professor Layton-Reihe.

Thanks to the Nintendo 3DS system, the puzzles in this game are all brand new, and I think you'll feel as though you're playing something completely new, something no one's ever seen before. It's jammed with the fascination that its creators had with the new Nintendo 3DS hardware.

Mit neuen Rätsel, die sich an den Fähigkeiten des 3DS bedienen, soll sich der Titel wie etwas komplett Neues anfühlen.
