Wie schon das Originalspiel wird auch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe amiibo-Figuren unterstützten. Scannt man eine Figur ein, erhält man ein entsprechendes Kostüm für seinen Mii-Fahrer. Auf der japanischen Webseite zu Mario Kart 8 Deluxe findet sich nun eine Liste, die alle kompatiblen Figuren auflistet. So werden Figuren aus den amiibo-Reihen zu Super Smash Bros., Super Mario, Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Maker, Kirby und The Legend of Zelda. Insgesamt gibt es 20 amiibo-Kostüme, die man mit den amiibo-Figuren freischalten kann. Die vollständige, englische Liste findet ihr nachfolgend. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe erscheint am 28. April exklusiv für Nintendo Switch.
