Bei den The Game Awards stimmen die Spieler und Spielerinnen über die besten Spiele des Jahres ab, bei den Game Developers Choice Awards die Entwickler und Entwicklerinnen selbst.
Auch in diesem Jahr wurden bei der Games Developer Conference in unterschiedlichen Kategorien die besten Spiele ausgezeichnet. In der Kategorie Game of the Year konnte sich deckungsgleich zu den Game Awards Baldur's Gate 3 durchsetzen und ließ Spiele wie The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom und Marvel's Spider-Man 2 hinter sich. Das Spiel erhielt außerdem den Preis für Best Narrative und Best Design.
Mit zwei gewonnen Awards ging The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hervor. Das Open World-Spiel erhielt die Preise für Best Technology und Innovation. Ebenfalls zwei Awards ging an das Indie-Spiel Venba von Visai Games. Das noch junge Studio wurde für Best Debut und mit dem Social Impact Award ausgezeichnet. Venba ist ein narratives Kochspiel, in dem man eine indische Mutter spielt, die in den 80er Jahren nach Kanada auswandert.
