Entgegen den Aussagen von Epic Games (u.a. Unreal Tournament 3, Gears of War 2) soll laut Ubisofts Fabrice Cuny die Unreal Engine doch auf dem Nintendo 3DS arbeiten. Man habe die Engine auf dem Handheld zum Laufen gebracht, ohne dass der 3D-Effekt die Präsentation beeinträchtigt.
“The 3DS is powerful, and we are able to run the Unreal engine on this console, which is pretty impressive for a handheld machine, and the 3D doesn’t affect the performance (thanks to my amazing programmers). The architecture is different compared to a Wii or some other platforms that we had to work with here at Ubisoft Montreal.”
Man darf also gespannt sein, inwiefern Ubisoft die Unreal Engine in zukünftigen 3DS-Titeln nutzen wird.
