With the announcement of Resident Evil Veronica Capcom pulled a hot topic out of the fire for the Summer Game Fest, triggering all kinds of cheers. However, alongside those cheers, there were also some puzzled looks revolving around the gameplay of the title. The debate was once again about the perspective.
First-person or third-person?
The reveal trailer for Resident Evil Veronica offered an exciting glimpse into the events surrounding Claire and Chris Redfield. The aspect that many stumbled over was the camera perspective chosen for the video.
The scenes were shown from a first-person perspective. This raised the question of which camera view Capcom would choose for the remake of Resident Evil Veronica. In the current Resident Evil Requiem the choice is left to the players.
Just like always!
In a Q&A with GamesRadar+ featuring producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the perspective question was clarified. According to him, Resident Evil Veronica will, like the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4, rely on a third-person perspective.
A deliberate deception maneuver
Hirabayashi admitted that the first-person perspective was deliberately chosen for the trailer in order not to reveal the game right away in the initial scenes. This was used to build suspense and ultimately create a well-staged moment for presenting Resident Evil Veronica.
Capcom’s Switch 2 Offensive
Resident Evil Veronica will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027 simultaneously with the other versions. This continues Capcom’s expansion on the console.
Recently, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen (October 9, 2026), Onimusha: Way of the Sword (September 25, 2026), and Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition: (June 23, 2026) were also announced for Nintendo Switch 2.
